Archbishop of Cantebury Dr.Rowan Williams becomes Freeman of Swansea
Geraint Davies MP for Swansea West was pleased to congratulate Dr.Rowan Williams on becoming a Freeman of the City and County of Swansea
Born in Swansea and educated at Dynevor School and Christ College Cambridge, Rowan Williams became professor of Divinity at Oxford University from 1986 to 1992.
In 1991 he became Bishop of Monmounth and in 1999 Archbishop of Wales. In 2003 he became the 104th Archbishop of Cantebury - the first Welshman since the 13 hundreds.
"Rowan Williams is a giant of Swansea responsible now for guiding the unity of the world wide Anglican communion. It is an honour for our city for him to be given Honoury Freedom of the City & County of Swansea" said Geraint Davies MP
